The Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) has lifted the indefinite flying ban placed on Ms. Comfort Emmanson over alleged unruly behaviour aboard Ibom Air Flight 29303 from Uyo to Lagos on August 12, 2025.
The decision follows the intervention of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN), and the withdrawal of the complaint against Emmanson, which led to her release from custody after all charges were struck out.
In a statement signed by AON spokesperson Prof. Obiora Okonkwo (OFR), the operators said they took into account reports of Emmanson’s remorse, government assurances on aviation safety, and plans for fresh training of airline crew and Aviation Security (AVSEC) personnel on handling unruly passengers.
The AON urged aviation agencies to begin urgent nationwide sensitisation on the dangers and legal consequences of disruptive conduct at airports and onboard aircraft, warning that offences under Section 85 of the Civil Aviation Act 2022 and Part 17 of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Regulations 2003 could lead to fines, imprisonment, or both.
