The Lagos State Police Command has arrested a suspected cultist and ex-convict, recovering a locally made firearm concealed inside a toilet pipe.
According to a statement issued by the Command’s spokesperson, CSP Benjamin Hundeyin, operatives of Ijede Division apprehended the suspect, identified as Onamade Kayode, on August 18, 2025, following a distress complaint from residents of Sabon Kasuwa, Abule Eko.

Kayode was reportedly brandishing a locally made gun and threatening members of the public before he was trailed and arrested in an uncompleted building.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect, who regained freedom in 2022 after serving a prison term for cultism-related offences, remains an active member of a cult group. During interrogation, he admitted to hiding the firearm and led officers to a toilet pipe within the building where the weapon was recovered.
The police said Kayode is cooperating with investigators to track down other members of the cult group and recover more weapons. He is expected to be prosecuted after the conclusion of investigations.
