UPDATED: Lagos Police Deny Political Bias, Deploy Joint Teams to Alimosho for Public Safety

The Lagos State Police Command has firmly denied allegations linking its personnel to political bias in Lagos State, insisting that its officers remain neutral, professional, and committed solely to protecting lives and property.

In a statement issued on Saturday, September 6, 2025, the Command explained that it deployed joint police teams—including conventional police, tactical squads, and anti-riot units—to Alimosho Local Government Area and other parts of Lagos State. The deployment, which began on September 4, is part of ongoing measures to prevent crime, ensure public peace, and reassure residents of their safety.

The Command described as “false and misleading” the claims by a section of a political party that officers had supported one party against another. According to the statement, “At no time were Police officers from the Lagos State Police Command provided cover to any of the political party members to attack members of the opposite political party as claimed in the report.”

The statement emphasized that up to the present moment, no complaints of political violence, attacks, or property damage had been lodged at any police station across Alimosho or elsewhere in Lagos. It also noted that all deployed officers conducted themselves with professionalism, impartiality, and respect for citizens.

Reiterating the Command’s constitutional role, the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Olohundare Jimoh, stressed that the police will continue to remain neutral and impartial. He urged political stakeholders to bring forward genuine complaints instead of resorting to “mischief and blackmail to mislead the public.”

CP Jimoh, who operates an open-door policy, assured Lagosians that credible complaints would be promptly addressed. He further appealed to residents to remain law-abiding and go about their daily activities without fear, reaffirming that the state remains peaceful.
