The President of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Atiku Isa, has sparked controversy after saying that any Igbo person supporting the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) is either a coward or a hypocrite.
Atiku Isa made the statement while speaking about politics in the South-East and the continued detention of IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu on Naija Unfiltered, a symdoni podcast.
According to him, many people in the region feel that the Igbo people have not been treated fairly within Nigeria’s political system.
He argued that the continued support for the APC by some individuals from the region contradicts the widespread complaints about marginalisation.
The NANS president said the concerns of many Igbo people revolve around issues of justice, fairness, and equal treatment within the country.
He added that many individuals from the region strongly believe that the Federal Government has not addressed their grievances properly.
Atiku Isa also claimed that the continued detention of Kanu has deepened anger and frustration among many young people in the South-East.
He insisted that those who continue to support the ruling party despite these concerns are ignoring what many people see as serious political and social issues.
