No fewer than 90 aspirants are currently contesting for the 32 seats in the Oyo State House of Assembly under the platform of the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Chairman of the party’s gubernatorial and House of Assembly primary elections committee in the state, Taofik Abdulsalam, disclosed this during a press conference held at the APC State Secretariat in Ibadan on Wednesday.
Abdulsalam, who addressed journalists alongside the chairman of the election monitoring team, Ayo Afolabi, said the committee had monitored the primary elections across various wards in the state.
According to him, all 90 aspirants who purchased nomination forms for the House of Assembly primaries were successfully screened and cleared to participate in the exercise.
“We have been on the field since yesterday. We have covered the primary elections for House of Assembly seats in Oyo State,” Abdulsalam said.
He added that the final results of the primaries would be announced by the national headquarters of the party.
Describing the State Assembly as a critical arm of government, Abdulsalam said the party considered the exercise important enough to set up a dedicated committee to oversee the process.
“Everyone that obtained the forms has been cleared. No one was disqualified. Ninety aspirants obtained the forms. All of them were cleared,” he stated.
