Dangote Refinery Begins Free Petrol Delivery to Abuja, 5 States, Retains N1,075 Ex-Depot Price

Dangote Petroleum Refinery has commenced free delivery of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as petrol, to six locations across Nigeria, including the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja, while retaining its ex-depot price of N1,075 per litre.

The refinery announced the initiative in a notice shared on its official X account on Wednesday, stating that the free delivery service covers Lagos, Ogun, Rivers, Kaduna and Delta states, as well as the FCT.

According to the company, the offer is available to customers purchasing a minimum of 250,000 litres of petrol, a move expected to reduce transportation costs for bulk buyers and improve fuel distribution across the covered locations.

The latest development comes shortly after the refinery held a meeting with stakeholders in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector to discuss cost-reflective pricing for petrol.

The engagement ended with industry stakeholders expressing support for further reductions in fuel prices, a move they believe could ease the burden on consumers and businesses.

The refinery recently announced its fourth reduction in the gantry price of petrol, lowering the ex-depot price to N1,075 per litre as part of its ongoing pricing adjustments.

Meanwhile, the President of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), Abubakar Maigandi, said retail petrol prices have dropped significantly in recent weeks.

According to him, the pump price of petrol has fallen by about N125 per litre over the past three weeks, with retail prices currently ranging from N1,155 to N1,299 per litre, depending on the location and marketer.

The free delivery initiative is expected to further strengthen the refinery’s distribution network and could contribute to increased competition in Nigeria’s downstream petroleum sector, with the potential to influence fuel prices nationwide.
