The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has disowned Mr Okey Ezeala, describing him as an impostor and warning members of the public against transacting any business with him on behalf of the party.
In a disclaimer signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq, the NDC said Ezeala was neither elected nor appointed as its Deputy National Publicity Secretary and was not a member of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC).
The party alleged that it had received several complaints about Ezeala’s activities, accusing him of presenting himself as a senior official of the party and allegedly introducing himself as an NWC member.
According to the statement, “The Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, hereby states without equivocation that a certain Mr. Okey Ezeala who is parading himself as the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of our party is an impostor.”
The party further alleged that Ezeala had been collecting money from unsuspecting party members while allegedly promising to secure party tickets and positions for them.
The NDC also accused him of organising what it described as an illegal “Congress” through “subterfuge and intimidation”, which it claimed resulted in an unlawful parallel executive in Abia State.
The party said it strongly dissociated itself from all activities attributed to Ezeala, particularly what it described as his “criminal activities”, stressing that such actions did not represent the character or position of the NDC.
The party consequently warned its members and members of the public against conducting any activity with Ezeala in the name of the NDC.
The statement added that Ezeala “is not a member of the party working or executive committee at any level, whether national, state or local government, and hence has no right or authority to transact any business on behalf of the party.”
The NDC further advised anyone who may have fallen victim to Ezeala’s alleged activities to submit a formal report to the party through the office of the National Secretary for further advice and necessary action.
The disclaimer was signed by Osa Director Esq, who identified himself as the National Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
