NDC PRESIDENTIAL CAMPAIGN COUNCIL SET FOR INAUGURATION
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) says it is finalising arrangements for the inauguration of its Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party disclosed this in a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director Esq., on Monday, September 21, 2026.
According to the NDC, its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and his running mate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, have held consultations with the party’s national leadership on the structure and composition of the campaign council.
The party said Obi and Kwankwaso had been given the responsibility of nominating key campaign officials, including the Director-General, Deputy Director-General (North), spokesperson, Deputy Spokesperson, Head of New Media and Finance Director, among others.
The NDC said a full campaign organogram had been prepared since August and presented to the candidates for their input, while nominations had also been received from stakeholders across the country.
It said the PCC inauguration, initially planned for the first week of September, was postponed due to Obi’s travel schedule.
On campaign financing, the party said funds raised would be paid into the presidential campaign account and managed jointly by officers nominated by the candidates and the party’s National Treasurer, in line with the Electoral Act and requirements for financial accountability to INEC.
The NDC also urged its candidates and supporters to avoid internal conflicts and focus on winning the 2027 elections.
“There are no battles to fight within the NDC. The common opponent to defeat is the ruling APC,” the statement said.
The party further directed its state and local government chairmen to begin consultations with candidates and stakeholders to compile and harmonise lists of party agents for the forthcoming elections.
According to the NDC, separate lists will be prepared for National Assembly elections and governorship/state assembly elections, with the final lists to be scrutinised and ratified before training begins.
The party said the exercise must be completed and the final lists submitted within two weeks.
The committee overseeing the appointment of party agents is chaired by Deputy National Chairman (South), Babatunde Alli, with Vin Martin Ilo as Secretary, alongside Yunusa Tanko, Nafiu Dankura and the National Vice Chairmen from the six geopolitical zones as members.
The NDC said it would announce and inaugurate the PCC once it receives the final inputs from its presidential candidate and running mate.
