The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered the remand of Chidiebere Justice Mark, popularly known as “Justice Crack,” in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) over alleged cybercrime offences tied to a viral video concerning the Nigerian Army.
Mark was arraigned on Monday before Justice Joyce Abdulmalik on a three-count charge bordering on the circulation of false information and the publication of materials deemed capable of inciting public unrest.
According to the prosecution, the defendant was arrested over the weekend by the Nigerian Army and subsequently handed over to the DSS for investigation and prosecution.
One of the charges states that Mark, using his X (formerly Twitter) handle @JusticeCrack, allegedly circulated claims about inadequate feeding of Nigerian soldiers—information the authorities claim he knew to be false and intended to provoke public dissatisfaction and division.
The charge, filed under Section 24(1)(b) of the Cybercrimes (Prohibition, Prevention, etc.) Act, 2015 (as amended), accuses him of posting the content to cause “annoyance, ill will, and hatred” among citizens.
In a second count, the DSS alleged that Mark published a viral video alongside statements about the Nigerian Army that triggered widespread negative reactions and could potentially lead to fear and a breakdown of public order.
The third count accuses the defendant of attempting to commit a felony through what the prosecution described as derogatory content targeting the Nigerian Army. This allegation is said to contravene Section 509 of the Criminal Code Act, with authorities maintaining that the material could incite unrest and threaten public peace.
Following his arraignment, Justice Abdulmalik adjourned the case until May 25, 2026, for trial and possible hearing of a bail application.
The court subsequently ordered that Mark be remanded in DSS custody pending further proceedings.
