Election: Jonathan leads West African elders to Senegal

Goodluck Jonathan

Former President Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has urged Nigerians to imbibe the virtues of love and sacrifice in line with the teachings of Jesus Christ and work towards the nation’s peace and prosperity.

The former President who stated this in his Easter message to Nigerians and Christians around the world noted that the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ reminds believers of the redemptive sacrifices of Christ and the promises of hope and eternal life.

He further encouraged Nigerians to be hopeful and tolerant of one another, adding that the nation’s challenges are not insurmountable.

He stated: “I congratulate all Nigerians and Christians across the world on this year’s Easter. The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ are at the core of the Christian faith, as it demonstrates Christ’s triumph over sin and death as well as His boundless love for humanity.

“At Easter, believers are reminded of the redemptive sacrifices of Christ and the promises of hope, joy, victory and eternal life. I, therefore, urge all Christians to imbibe the virtues of faith, love and sacrifice exemplified by Christ in our everyday life.

“As a country, let us continue to live in faith, hope, and tolerance despite our national challenges. Let us use this period to reawaken our love for God and humanity and work toward our collective peace, unity, and prosperity.”
