Former Anambra State governor Peter Obi has raised serious concern over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, describing it as a full-blown crisis.
Speaking on Naija Unfiltered, a Symfoni podcast, Obi said the level of violence across the country shows Nigeria is drifting into a war situation.
“This is war,” he declared, warning that the continued killings and attacks can no longer be treated as normal incidents.
According to him, insecurity has become so widespread that many Nigerians no longer react with urgency, a development he described as dangerous.
Obi stressed that no responsible government would allow such conditions without taking strong and visible action.
He also questioned how armed groups are able to operate with sophisticated weapons, suggesting deeper systemic failures.
The former presidential candidate called for decisive leadership, urging authorities to prioritize the protection of lives and property.
He added that beyond security operations, long-term solutions must include investment in education, job creation, and poverty reduction.
“The more you pull people out of poverty, the more you reduce crime,” he said.
