The African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by former Senate President David Mark has expelled several party members, including former Deputy National Chairman Nafiu Bala Gombe and House of Representatives member Leke Abejide.
The decision was announced during the party’s national convention held in Abuja on Tuesday.
Other members affected by the expulsion include Kenneth Ehiator, Stella Chukwu and Elias Adiukwu.
The development comes as the leadership crisis within the party continues to deepen ahead of preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Despite the decision, ADC expels Nafiu Bala Gombe remains controversial because Bala insists he is still the authentic National Chairman of the party. He also denied stepping down from his earlier leadership position.
Earlier, Bala and Abejide led a protest to the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), where they demanded that key political figures including Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso and David Mark stay away from the party.
Bala accused the politicians of attempting to hijack the party structure ahead of the next election cycle.
Following a lawsuit filed by Bala, INEC later moved to withdraw recognition of the David Mark-led leadership, further complicating the internal dispute.
