Though all is now set for the National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting of the Peoples Democratic (PDP), certain elements within the camp of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, seem to be at odds on how the meeting would hold without them hijacking it.
As such it was alleged that the minister’s allies have concluded plans to finally implement a plot of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to frustrate the PDP and ensure the reign of a “One Party State”.
For this, the former Rivers State governor is alleged to be the unseen hand behind efforts in the North Central Zone of the PDP to create disharmony and make it difficult for the region to find a replacement for the ousted National Chairman, Senator Dr Iyorchia Ayu.
Recall that Senator Ayu was sacked, first, by his ward Exco in Benue state and a high court, immediately after the general elections in 2023.
Senator Ayu who was an ardent supporter of the former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, became Governor Wike’s public enemy number one because of his alleged role at the party selection process during the National Convention that produced the former Vp as the party’s Presidential Candidate in the 2023 general elections.
According to available information from sources close to Wike, the former Rivers Governor is alleged to have mobilized some fifth columnist with cash gifts to make it impossible for the zone to speak with one voice, thereby depriving them of the opportunity to replace Ayu.
Minister Wike’s grand scheme, it was alleged, is to use the current acting national chairman, Amb Iliya Damagum, to sabotage the party by weakening its position as the main opposition political party in Nigeria.
Wike’s intention, it was further alleged, is part of President Bola Tinubu’s strategy of a one party state in order to ensure zero opposition in 2027.
