The Attorney General of Rivers state, Mr. Zaccheus Adangor, has quit his job in anger.
Mr Adangor, Senior Advocate of Nigeria, who had served in the capacity for five years, angrily resigned after Governor Siminalayi Fubara re-assigned him to the Ministry of Special Duties.
Speaking in his resignation letter dated April 24, 2024, Adangor wished Governor Fubara well in his leadership of the state.
He, however, expressed surprise that he was re-assigned to the Special Duties Ministry.
He said, “I wish to state for the record, thay I am no longer willing to continue to serve in the administration of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, governor of Rivers State in any capacity whatsoever.”
Adangor, who is a very strong ally of the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mr. Nyesom Wike also claimed in his letter that Gov. Fubara interfered in his job, adding that his action was to enable him to preserve his reputation.
“It is important to mention that the Governor of Rivers State had in the past couple of weeks willfully interfered with the performance of my duties as the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice , Rivers state, by directing me not to defend, oppose or appear in suits instituted against the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice Rivers State by persons admittedly hired and sponsored by the government of Rivers state.”
Further, Mr. Adangor stated that “having served the government and good people of Rivers state dutifully as member of the Rivers State Executive Council in the past five years, it has become imperative for me to quit the administration in order to preserve my reputation.”
