President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sent all Service Chiefs, including the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), inherited from Muhammadu Buhari, packing.
Also fired was the Comptroller-General of Customs, who was replaced by Adeniyi Bashir Adewale.
A statement from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), George Akume, which announced the sack, also announced
Mallam Nuhu Ribadu as the National Security Adviser (NSS) alongside Maj. Gen. C.G Musa, who will take over as the Chief of Defence Staff while Maj. Gen. T. A Lagbaja becomes the new Chief of Army Staff.
Rear Admiral E. A Ogalla takes over as the Chief of Naval Staff, while AVM HB Abubakar is lifted as the Chief of Air Staff.
DIG Kayode Egbetokun was announced as the Acting Inspector-General of Police (IGP), and Maj. Gen. EPA Undiandeye as the new Chief of Defense Intelligence.
The statement also stated that President Tinubu had further approved the appointment of Col. Adebisi Onasanya as the new Commander, Brigade of Guards; Lt. Col. Moshood Abiodun Yusuf, Commander, 7 Guards Battalion, Asokoro and Lt. Col. Auwalu Baba Inuwa as Commander, 177 Guards Battalion, Keffi, Nasarawa State.
The President also approved the appointment of Lt. Col. Mohammed J. Abdulkarim as Commander of 102 Guards Battalion, Suleja, Niger State, while Lt. Col. Olumide A. Akingbesote takes over as Commander of 176 Guards Battalion, Gwagwalada, in Abuja.
The statement also announced the appointment of other military officers in the presidential villa to, include Maj. Isa Farouk Audu, Commanding Officer State House Artillery; Capt. Kazeem Olalekan Sunmonu Second-in-Command, State House Artillery; Maj. Kamaru Koyejo Hamzat, Commanding Officer, State House Military Intelligence; Maj. TSTS Adeola, Commanding Officer, State House Armament, and Lt. A. Aminu, Second-in-Command, State House Armament.
The President further approved the appointment of two additional Special Advisers and two Senior Assistants to include Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser, Policy Coordination; Hannatu Musa Musawa, Special Adviser, Culture and Entertainment Economy; Sen. Abdullahi Abubakar Gumel, Senior Special Assistant, National Assembly Matters (Senate); and Hon. Olarenwaju Kunle Ibrahim Senior Special Assistant, National Assembly Matters (House of Representatives).
The statement added that the appointed Service Chiefs, the Inspector-General of Police and the Comptroller General of Customs are to act in their positions, pending their confirmation in accordance with the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
