Port Harcourt, Nigeria – The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewoh, has distanced the party from the recently held PDP zonal conference in the state, declaring that it was not an official PDP event. Speaking at a press conference, the chairman emphasized that the gathering lacked the presence of legitimate party members, dismissing it as an independent move by the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.
According to the chairman, none of the five PDP governors from the South-South region attended the event, nor did the party’s national woman leader from Cross River State. He cited these absences as proof that the meeting had no affiliation with the PDP at any level.
“The money Nyesom Wike stole from Rivers State has entered his head, and he doesn’t know what to do with it,” the chairman stated during the conference, in a strong rebuke of the former governor’s alleged influence over the gathering.
He further called on the public and party members to disregard any resolutions or outcomes from the meeting, reaffirming that the PDP remains uninvolved.
The press conference highlights the ongoing political tension within the PDP in Rivers State, particularly between the state’s leadership and Nyesom Wike, who has been at the center of intra-party controversies since leaving office as governor.
