‘You have failed woefully’ – Amaechi Blasts Tinubu Over Maiduguri Bombings, Calls for his Resignation

Former Minister of Transportation, , has launched a blistering attack on the administration of , President Bola Ahmed Timubu, accusing the government of failing in its most basic responsibility to protect the lives of Nigerians.

Amaechi made the remarks on his X platform on thwhile reacting to the recent bomb explosions in Maiduguri, Borno State.

The former minister said the attack was not just a tragedy but a clear sign that the federal government has become complacent and incompetent in addressing Nigeria’s growing insecurity.

According to him, the Tinubu administration has failed in what he described as the “most sacred duty of protecting the lives of citizens.”

Amaechi wrote that the Maiduguri bombing exposed what he called a leadership that is indifferent to the suffering and deaths of Nigerians caused by terrorists and bandits.

He said Nigerians cannot continue to live in fear while those in power live comfortably and fail to take decisive steps to end the security crisis.

Amaechi also accused government officials of responding to attacks with empty statements rather than concrete action.

He claimed that while communities across the country mourn victims of violence, those in authority simply move on as if nothing has happened.

The former Rivers State governor further alleged that the president would rather spend time abroad than confront the worsening situation at home.

Amaechi questioned how many more lives must be lost before the government admits failure and takes decisive action against insecurity.

He warned that insecurity has now become a daily reality for ordinary Nigerians, while the government appears unprepared to deal with the challenge.

The former minister said Nigerians deserve safety, peace and dignity rather than continued negligence and excuses from those in power.

Amaechi also expressed sympathy for the victims of the bombing and the people of , saying many families have been left devastated by the attack.

“My prayers are with the victims and their innocent families whose lives have now been shattered,” he stated.

In the most direct part of his message, Amaechi said a government that cannot guarantee the safety of its citizens has no moral right to remain in power.

He therefore called on President Tinubu to resign, saying the president has “failed woefully” in carrying out the basic responsibility of protecting lives and property.

Amaechi concluded his statement with a warning that power ultimately belongs to the people.

According to him, Nigerians may one day rise to challenge what he described as failed leadership if the current situation continues.

“Remember, power belongs to the people,” he said, adding that the voice of citizens will always be stronger than bombs and incompetent leadership.

The comment adds to the growing political debate over insecurity in Nigeria following the latest violence in Maiduguri, which has again raised concerns about the country’s security challenges.
