The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja has set aside the judgment of the Federal High Court in Lokoja which had ordered the deregistration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
In a judgment delivered on Friday, the appellate court allowed the NDC’s appeal and overturned the ruling delivered by Justice Isah Dashen.
The NDC, in a statement, commended the Court of Appeal for upholding what it described as the integrity of the judiciary and protecting multiparty democracy in Nigeria.
The party said its registration remains valid and subsisting and that it, alongside its candidates, will participate in the 2027 elections.
The NDC also congratulated its members and candidates, thanking Nigerians for their prayers and support during the legal battle.
The party said it would now focus on its campaigns and preparations for the 2027 elections.
“The NDC continues to exist. Our registration remains valid and subsisting,” the statement said.
