The Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok Ete Ekwe Ibas, has called on paramilitary organizations to continue working closely with other security agencies to prevent a breakdown of law and order in the state.

Maintain Law and Order

Speaking at a meeting with the heads of paramilitary organizations at Government House, Port Harcourt, on Friday, Vice Admiral Ibas emphasized that no meaningful development can occur without peace and security. He stressed the need for intensified efforts to curb criminal activities and maintain law and order.

“I will be needing you in all aspects of maintaining law and order. You must always have the interest of Nigeria and the people of Rivers State at heart,” he said.

The Administrator urged the security agencies to step up joint operations and intelligence-sharing efforts to combat crime effectively. He highlighted the dangers of unregistered and covered-license-plate vehicles plying the roads, insisting that such security threats must be addressed.

Law and Order

“If criminals have access to resources, it means we are emboldening them. We must work together to make Rivers State very safe,” he added.

Vice Admiral Ibas also pointed out the challenges caused by overturned tankers on roads, emphasizing the need to minimize traffic-related casualties. He directed the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) to collaborate with the Civil Defense and the Police to enforce road safety measures.

The Administrator urged paramilitary officers to engage more with local communities, promote security awareness, and support grassroots policing. He assured them that the state government would continue providing necessary support to enhance their operations.
