The Rivers State Government has announced the immediate suspension of all political appointees and office holders in the state.
The decision, effective from Wednesday, March 26, 2025, was made by the Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral (Rtd) Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas, under the authority granted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

Those affected include the Secretary to the State Government, the Chief of Staff, all Honourable Commissioners, chairmen and members of boards, agencies, commissions, and institutions, as well as Special Advisers, Special Assistants, and Senior Special Assistants.
The suspended officials have been directed to hand over to Permanent Secretaries in their respective ministries, or the most senior director where no Permanent Secretary exists.
This announcement was signed by the Chief of Staff to the Administrator.
