‘I Have 95% Evidence to Prove Obi Is a Fraud’ – Arabambi Alleges

Abayomi Arabambi, a member of the National Working Committee (NWC) of the Labour Party under the Julius Abure-led faction, has alleged that he possesses “95 per cent evidence” to prove that former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi committed fraud. Arabambi’s comments come amid the Labour Party’s lingering leadership crisis, with the Abure-led leadership currently challenging a Federal High Court judgment recognising the Senator Nenadi Usman-led Caretaker Committee as the party’s legitimate leadership pending the conduct of a national convention.

Arabambi made the claims on Naija Unfiltered, a Symfoni podcast interview, where he launched a fresh wave of allegations against Obi, ranging from campaign finances to identity and educational records.

According to him, his petitions have been submitted to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), the Nigeria Police Force and other relevant authorities for investigation.

“I have more than 95 per cent evidence of corruption committed by Peter Obi,” Arabambi said during the interview. “He must step aside from the presidential race. What I am going to show Nigerians will be alarming.”

The Labour Party chieftain alleged that Obi and some of his associates opened campaign bank accounts without the knowledge of the party’s leadership during the 2023 presidential election campaign. He claimed the accounts were used to receive campaign donations outside the official party structure and insisted the transactions should be subjected to forensic investigation.

Arabambi further alleged that campaign funds were not properly accounted for after the election, accusing Obi’s team of failing to present an audited report to the Labour Party.

According to him, every individual or organisation that allegedly received money from the accounts should be investigated by anti-corruption agencies.

He also renewed allegations concerning Obi’s identity documents, academic records and National Youth Service Corps certificate, claiming there were inconsistencies that should be examined by the courts and relevant government agencies.

Arabambi argued that anyone seeking Nigeria’s highest office must be transparent and accountable, insisting that Obi should clear the allegations before pursuing another presidential bid.

“I have certified true copies of documents,” he claimed. “I know where I am going with this case.”

The Labour Party official also revealed that he had issued a ₦50 billion pre-action defamation notice against Obi over remarks he alleged damaged his reputation. He said he would proceed with legal action if Obi failed to apologise within the stipulated period.

Arabambi dismissed claims that his criticisms were politically motivated or sponsored by the administration of President Bola Tinubu, insisting that he was acting independently and had never worked for the ruling All Progressives Congress.

Arabambi’s comments come as political realignments ahead of the 2027 general election continue to intensify, with opposition figures positioning themselves for another presidential contest.
