The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has extended the deadline for the collection of Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) across the country.
The electoral umpire earlier fixed the collection deadline for Sunday, January 22, 2023.
After a crucial meeting on Thursday, INEC extended the collection by one week – registered voters now have until Sunday, January 29 2023, to pick their PVCs.
INEC National Commissioner, Information and Voter Education, Festus Okoye, said the extension is to encourage registered voters, having seen the enthusiasm in the collection process.

He explained that PVC distribution would end at the ward level on January 22 and then move to INEC Local government offices for eight days and officially end on January 29.
“The Commission is determined to ensure that registered voters have ample opportunity to collect their PVCs ahead of the forthcoming election. For this reason, the timeframe for collecting PVCs is extended by eight days. Instead of ending on Sunday, January 22 2023, the collection of PVCs will continue until Sunday, January 29 2023.
“At the moment, the period of collection is 9.00 am – 3.00 pm daily (including Saturdays and Sundays),” Okoye stated.
