The governorship aspiration of Ambassador Abdulfatai Yahaya Seriki Gambari received another major boost on Wednesday as the leadership of the All Progressive Congress (APC) Kwara State chapter openly aligned with his candidacy following his endorsement by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq.
Ambassador Seriki paid what was described as a strategic solidarity visit to the APC State Secretariat in Ilorin, where he was received by members of the State Working Committee and party executives from the three senatorial districts of the state.
The visit quickly turned into a show of unity within the ruling party, as party officials and stakeholders expressed support for Seriki’s ambition and pledged commitment to preserving the gains of the APC administration in Kwara State.

Addressing party leaders during the meeting, Seriki thanked the APC leadership for what he described as their steadfast support and confidence in his leadership capacity.
He said the party was entering a critical phase that requires unity, inclusiveness, and collective resolve to strengthen the APC ahead of future elections.
According to him, his aspiration is anchored on sustaining grassroots development, empowering young people, and expanding economic opportunities across the state.
Seriki also called for peaceful and rancour-free primary elections within the party, stressing that internal contests should strengthen rather than weaken the APC’s structure in Kwara.
He further assured party members and fellow aspirants that the APC remains positioned for continued electoral success, which he attributed partly to the policies and reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration.
Party leaders, speaking on behalf of the state executive council, praised Seriki for his loyalty and longstanding contributions to the growth of the APC in Kwara State.
They particularly highlighted his role in the party’s successful campaign structures during the 2019 and 2023 elections, describing him as a committed mobiliser and a unifying figure within the party.
Several stakeholders at the meeting reportedly expressed confidence in his leadership style, portraying him as a bridge-builder capable of connecting both the older and younger generations within the APC.
The development comes shortly after Governor AbdulRazaq publicly endorsed Seriki as his preferred successor, a move that has continued to generate reactions within the political landscape of Kwara State ahead of the 2027 governorship race.
