The Labour Party has reaffirmed that it is not currently operating any social media accounts, warning Nigerians to disregard information from unauthorized platforms posing as official channels.
In a press statement issued on April 19, 2026, the party said its position—first announced on February 9—remains unchanged. It specifically flagged a fraudulent X (formerly Twitter) account בשם “LABOUR PARTY (LP) NIG” with the handle @LabourpartyNGR_ as misleading and not affiliated with the party.
According to the statement, the account had previously been disowned but rebranded itself in an attempt to continue deceiving the public.
The party clarified that its only recognized social media handles—Labour Party-Nig on Facebook and LabourPartyNG on X—are currently inactive. It added that steps are being taken to recover control of the official X account.

The leadership disclosed that a formal petition has been submitted to the Nigerian Police, with investigations ongoing. Individuals linked to the matter, including Julius Abure and Alhaji Umar Farouk, are reportedly cooperating with authorities at the Force Intelligence Department.
The party also dismissed recent claims circulating online suggesting it is expecting the return of Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, describing such reports as false and unauthorized.
Until further notice, the Labour Party emphasized that all official communications will only be made through press statements issued by the Office of its Interim National Chairman.
It urged the public and media to remain vigilant and rely solely on verified channels for accurate information.
