NSA: Dele Oyewale, the Head of Media and Publicity at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), has been named the Outstanding Federal Government Spokesperson of the Year 2025 by the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
The NSA event, which took place on Wednesday, April 16, at the Abuja Continental Hotel, was part of the prestigious National Spokespersons Awards. This year’s theme focused on “Integrity and the Evolving Roles of Spokespersons in Leadership Communication.”

Rather than just another award ceremony, this recognition highlights something deeper—how public communication is evolving, and how Oyewale is leading the charge. In a category filled with big names like Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga and Josephine Mudasiru of the FCDA, Oyewale’s win shows how consistency, clarity, and a professional touch can make all the difference.
According to the award panel, led by Dr. Shaibu Husseini, Oyewale was chosen for his “strategic communication, impactful media work, and consistent public engagement” which has helped Nigerians better understand the EFCC’s work.
Other winners at the NSA event came from various sectors. Notably, Olufemi Soneye of NNPCL won Distinguished Spokesperson of the Year in Oil and Gas, while Femi Babafemi of NDLEA bagged the award for Outstanding Spokesperson in Security Services.
Speaking at the NSA event, Hon. Joshua Audu Gana of the House of Representatives praised the organizers for recognizing those who keep the public informed. He urged all spokespersons to continue raising the bar. Similarly, Hon. Akintunde Rotimi Jr., who was the Special Guest of Honour, stressed that spokespersons should not be left out of major decision-making processes since they are the bridge between the public and the government.
