Leaders of the Peter Obi/Ahmed Datti Campaign in the south-west, Monday, sank the Labour Party (LP) ship in the region when they all dumped the party and declared support for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Collectively, the erstwhile LP Campaign leaders said they will now identify and work for the APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The development puts Obi’s votes expectations in the south-west in jeopardy.
South-West LP chairman, Banji Omotoso, led the party’s leadership to make the switch to APC in Akure, the capital of Ondo State.
According to him, leaders of the Labour Party decided to quit the party because it is not viable and lacks the clout to win the 2023 elections. He said the APC and Tinubu are viable political platforms with capacity to win.
Omotosso and his group further described Tinubu as someone with the required skills to rescue Nigeria from its current socio-economic woes.
The defectors were received into the APC by the Leadership and Members of the South
