The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has dismissed claims by the All Progressives Congress (APC) that some of its House of Assembly candidates from Jigawa, Plateau, Taraba and Zamfara States have defected to the ruling party.
The ADC described the claim as “wishful thinking,” accusing the APC of parading individuals who are neither its candidates nor leaders.
In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, the ADC said the APC could not “confer imaginary ADC credentials” on individuals and present them to Nigerians as defectors.
The party also rejected the APC’s claim that the alleged defectors were attracted by the Federal Government’s performance in Northern Nigeria.
The ADC challenged the APC to identify the offices allegedly held by the individuals, the constituencies they represented as ADC candidates and when they held such positions.
“The APC should enjoy its photographs and spare Nigerians this unnecessary fiction,” the party said.
