Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has openly acknowledged the critical role played by Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, in his political rise -despite their bitter fallout.
In a passionate case for peace and reconciliation, Fubara admitted that Wike is his Boss “Oga” and that a truth no one cash away, not even his staunch supporters. “Nobody can wish away the risk Wike took for me. That’s the truth,” Fubara declared.
The governor’s statement signals a possible softening of the political feud that has plagued Rivers State since late 2023, when tensions between him and his predecessor-turned-political adversary began disrupting governance.

“At this point, if you want to be truthful to yourself—not lying to yourself—the only solution is peace,” Fubara declared. “I didn’t say there is no price too big to pay for peace for nothing. I meant it, and I still stand by it.”
Despite their sharp differences, Fubara admitted that Wike’s contribution to his emergence as governor was undeniable. “Nobody here will say he doesn’t know the role the man played. Nobody can take away the risk he took.
Fubara lamented the negative impact of the ongoing political crisis on key developmental projects across the state. According to him, many road constructions and infrastructure projects have been left abandoned because of distractions caused by political instability.
“Look at the projects we initiated—big roads have been abandoned. Without this crisis, I know where we would have been by now. The progress we would have made would have been far greater.”

He further urged his supporters to embrace peace, emphasizing that not everyone must occupy a political position to feel valued. “This is the time for me to prove to you that I care for you—not when everything is working, but when things are tough,” he said.
Calling on those who genuinely believe in his leadership, the governor asked for understanding, stating that reconciliation is a bitter but necessary pill to swallow.
“It’s bitter, but we must accept the situation. I can’t abandon you. And it must not be that everybody must have a position.”
