Popular social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has revealed that he was interrogated by the Department of State Services (DSS) over a video he posted relating to an ongoing coup plot trial.
The development followed an order by Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court, Abuja, directing an investigation into how restricted court footage found its way into the public domain.
The video in question had been tendered as evidence in the trial of individuals accused of plotting to overthrow the administration of Bola Ahmed Tinubu. The case stems from arrests made in 2024 and remains before the court.
During proceedings on June 23 and 24, 2026, the Director of Public Prosecutions, Rotimi Oyedepo, informed the court that the restricted footage was circulating on VeryDarkMan’s social media platforms despite an existing court order limiting its distribution.
Reacting to the development in a post on X, VeryDarkMan disclosed that he spent several hours at the DSS office answering questions about the source of the video before he was allowed to leave.
VDM said he apologized for posting the video not knowing it was an exhibit in court for the ongoing case. He further stated in a video he posted on X that he was not even in Court on the said date the video was tendered.
According to him, the interrogation was carried out pursuant to Justice Abdulmalik’s directive. He stated that investigators requested details on how he obtained the footage and that he provided a full account.
“I got to my house this morning at around 2:00 am because I was at the DSS Office where I was being interrogated and investigated over a video I posted four days ago. The investigation by the DSS was ordered by Honorable Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. I was asked to give an account of how I got the said video that I published, which I have answered with the whole truth. I told them everything and how I got the video,” he wrote.
